Our Transportation practice includes the following groups: Bridge and Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Resident Engineering and Inspection, Bridge Inspection, and Geotechnical Engineering. The Role

Thornton Tomasetti's Boston office is seeking a motivated geotechnical/geo-structural engineer to assist with projects throughout the country. Our Geo-structural Engineering group collaborates with architects, owners, engineers, and contractors to develop efficient and innovative geotechnical/geo-structural solutions for projects of all types, sizes, and levels of complexity. Our group is known for its holistic view with analytical approach to engineering challenges, informed by past experience, data and interdisciplinary expertise between geotechnical and structural engineering. We are here to provide solutions to geotechnical construction to a multi-discipline large infrastructure project. Responsibilities

• Execution of technical aspects under the supervision of a project manager.
• Assisting a team to produce design drawings and models in a team environment.
• Assisting in field work such as inspection and monitoring of construction and site investigation.
• This position may also require some field inspections related to foundation installation or SOE construction which may require OSHA training. Requirements
  • A master's degree with a focus on Geotechnical and/or Structural Engineering
  • 1+ years of experience
  • Experience or knowledge of soil-structure interaction, working knowledge of FEM analysis.
  • Working knowledge of basic structural analysis tools such as CSI tools (SAP2000) or STAAD
  • Working knowledge in Autocad/Revit for producing design drawings.
  • Experience with basic geotechnical analysis software (Geostudio, L-Pile,DeepEX).
  • Understanding of current geotechnical investigation techniques, such as geotechnical borings and test pits. General understanding of soil and rock classification systems. Benefits
